Maitripa College Spring 2022 “retreat” model will offer students both onsite and online course delivery formats and the encouragement to make your educational journey one of spiritual and community formation as well.
We are inspired by the wish to make the most of the precious opportunity and our fortune in being born in this time and place, in which we are equipped to learn from and with one another in so many ways, and are also able to have and to offer unprecedented access and flexibility to peers, mentors, and friends from all around the world. Therefore, we will be offering our Fall 2022 courses and degree program entry in a combination of onsite and online formats, with individualized support for degree program students to structure their learning as a semester-long “retreat.” Course offerings will be supplemented by robust community program offerings at Maitripa College, and, for degree program students, the opportunity to design your own “retreat” to best support integration of course material into your daily life.
Onsite classes will be offered for 4 weeks per term, and the remaining course content will be offered through synchronous, online classes with enrollment limited to sustain a close community. Attendance for the onsite portion of the course is required to receive credit for the course towards a degree.
The Schedule Structure and Requirements
Maitripa College plans to open the Spring 2022 term with classes meeting on-site for the first four weeks (January 18-February 11, 2022).
- MA and MDiv Degree program and Continuing Education students in Oregon are required to attend all on-site classes in person. Attending in person supports learning, spiritual formation, and community building, for yourself and others. Offering hybrid and blended delivery formats within a given semester requires significant staff and faculty time to prepare the building and suitable technologies for each class; please respect efforts made on your behalf by participating fully in courses via the scheduled formats offered. Requests for exemption from in-person attendance must be made prior to the start of the term to email@example.com. Synchronous attendance via Zoom or other distance learning options will be offered only with pre-approval and pre-arranged agreements on an individual, case-by-case basis.
- Auditors (non-degree; non-Oregon students) may be offered synchronous, asynchronous, or alternative access to course content at the discretion of the faculty and to meet the pedagogical needs of students. Efforts will be made to include Auditors in weekly class sessions. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org, email@example.com, or other faculty to learn more about specific courses impacted.
- As local health regulations and best practices during the global pandemic continue to evolve, classes could move entirely online, and/or more on-site opportunities could be added later in the term. Maitripa College commits to providing synchronous Zoom access for classes from February 14-May 13.
