Mind and Its Potential, Module 1 of Discovering Buddhism
(Thursdays 6-7:30p September 17-December 3)
In person at Maitripa College and online.
Registration opens August 15.
Please join us for Mind and Its Potential, the first module in a rare continuous fourteen-part program that carries students the entire way through the Buddhist path to enlightenment, taught by the skillful and experienced Venerable Lozang Yönten.
The opening session examines the mind itself: how it constructs the experiences we call happiness and suffering, and how destructive thoughts and attitudes can be recognized, understood, and transformed into a mind that is genuinely positive and at ease. It is the foundation on which all fourteen modules of Discovering Buddhism are built.
Each session of this course will be delivered to support real engagement and application, giving students the chance to work directly with the teachings rather than to simply hear them. Guidance will be offered on the mechanisms behind meditation itself, so that students can use this understanding to deepen their practice and maintain stability and consistency in daily life.
The course is open to beginners and taught with enough depth to enrich senior students as well. Students may join the cycle at any point, but the early session is the ideal place to begin. Under Venerable Yönten’s guidance, this fourteen-part, consecutive journey offers a rare chance to walk the complete path with a single skilled teacher from start to finish. Don’t miss this opportunity.
