April 18 - April 20
Living with the Imminence of Death with Ven. Yönten
Weekend workshop
In person and online
April 18-20th, 2025
A meaningful life is often supported by an awareness of death – both our own and others. When death looms through age, injury, or illness – the inner resilience and compassion to meet these circumstances in healthy ways and to even make the situation into our spiritual path, is something that doesn’t happen overnight. Buddhism offers an array of tools for developing inner qualities and outer skills to bring light to dark times.
Ground yourself in straightforward communication techniques for having “big” conversations and filling a space with compassion. Explore through experience some of the Buddhist rituals that can support someone at the end of their life. Learn the meditations that lead to a meaningful life and peaceful death, for both yourself and others.
Venerable Yönten: This course will be led by Maitripa’s Chaplain and fully ordained Buddhist nun, Venerable Yönten. Ven. Yönten has been supporting community members in end-of-life care throughout her 20+ years as a nun and she also worked with Karuna Hospice in Brisbane, Australia where she supported both Buddhist and non-Buddhist patients. >More about Venerable Yönten
