The 600 Tsa Tsa Project at Maitripa College began in August, 2019, with the aspiration of Yangsi Rinpoche to offer 600 Tsa Tsas of Lama Tsongkhapa in celebration of the 600th Anniversary of Lama Tsongkhapa’s parinirvana.

Yangsi Rinpoche ordered tsa tsa molds from Nalanda Monastery and the Maitripa College community, led by senior students Roberta Raine and Amanda Russell, got to work on this virtuous project. By the end of December, the students had cast, painted, and installed a glorious offering of 600 golden tsa tsa’s in the Jokhang Meditation Hall, which is the main shrine room in the International Office of FPMT and Maitripa College, in Portland, Oregon.

We offer this project in gratitude to all of our teachers, especially His Holiness the Dali Lama and Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche, and so that all of their holy wishes may come to fruition immediately to benefit all beings.

Please rejoice and enjoy!

Lama Tsongkhapa Day Celebration: December 21, 2019

Lama Tsongkhapa Day, or Ganden Ngamchoe, is a celebration of the anniversary of Lama Tsongkhapa’s parinirvana. It is celebrated on the 25th day of the 10th month on the Tibetan calendar.  This year, December 21 marked the celebration of the 600th anniversary of Lama Tsongkhapa Day. To reflect on the Lamrim teachings we have access to each Sunday at Maitripa College, and to give thanks to Lama Tsongkhapa and all of our teachers, everyone was invited to make light offerings and practice Guru Puja together.
