Welcome to the Madhyamaka Resource Section of the James A. Blumenthal Library at Maitripa College. These resources are not intended to be a comprehensive source of all knowledge on this vast topic – rather, they are inspired from Tsong-kha-pa’s quest to understand Madhyamaka. They are meant for anyone seeking to deepen their understanding of Madhyamaka by engaging with the Great Indian Treatises.
“An indispensable prerequisite for insight is to use the wisdom gained through study and reflection to develop knowledge of reality. For without a decisive view of how things exist, you cannot develop insight that knows the real nature, emptiness.
Moreover, if you do not rely upon the treatises by authoritative trailblazers commenting on the Budddha’s thought, you are like a blind person headed towards danger without a guide. Hence, you must rely on accurate commentaries on the Buddha’s thought.”
