For this fall only, the faculty and staff of Maitripa College are excited to open a selection of classes to students outside of Oregon. As COVID-19 is keeping many colleges online this fall, Maitripa College has a unique opportunity to open classroom doors to students out-of-state and abroad to Auditors who wish to study alongside our local Continuing Education and Degree Program students.
Maitripa College faculty chose four classes (see below) that are suited to a larger student-body, and beneficial to CE students, Degree program students, and auditing students alike. The Admissions Committee is looking for students who seek adult enrichment, personal development, and connection with fellow students and practitioners. These courses are appropriate for introductory Tibetan Buddhist students and those who wish to deepen a connection to practice with timely and relevant topics. Space will be limited to ensure that the sense of community and connection is maintained, and there will be several spaces per class reserved for monastics.
While out-of-state students will not earn credit, every student, whether enrolled for credit or auditing, will be expected to attend all classes live (via Zoom), participate in readings and discussions, and complete assignments on time. Students can anticipate spending approximately two hours on reading and assignments for every hour of class time.
